Bright wins European based client

Manchester Evening News, June 2011.

One of Europe’s biggest camping holiday companies has opened its first full-time UK base in Warrington, from where it aims to grab a 10% share of the £80M market in just five years. It plans to recruit ten local staff over the next 12 months and additionally will be sending 30 representatives to continental campsites this year for an eight-month stint.

Vacanceselect was started in the Netherlands 27 years ago and now operates throughout Europe, taking 100,000 bookings a year for 47 sites. The UK operation will trade as Selectcamp, thought to be more suitable for the British market, and will provide exactly the same standards and locations as its parent, including France, Italy, Spain, Holland and Croatia. UK general manager David Beresford said that Warrington had been chosen for its location close to both Manchester and Liverpool Airports. “Our HQ is in Amsterdam, so to have the ability to fly from either airport is perfect”, said Mr Beresford.

One area in which Selectcamp has a lot of expertise is the recent trend for “Glamping” – the so-called glamorous camping that has taken off since the recent financial squeeze. Its top of the range product is the Lodge-suite, described as “hotel accommodation on a campsite setting”, featuring a canopied bed, an open-plan bathroom with a free-standing luxurious oval bath, a separate toilet and shower, and a fully-equipped kitchen. “The British love camping of all descriptions but we think our Glamping products take the concept to a completely new level and I am confident we will have a high level of interest from UK holidaymakers”, said David Beresford.

As well as recruiting office and site representatives locally, Selectcamp has chosen a local firm of accountants to support it. “Our parent company is unfamiliar with the UK so a significant challenge was finding an accounting partner to guide us through legislative issues here. Happily, the Bright Partnership was right on our doorstep here in Warrington, and we are all confident both locally and in the Netherlands that we have chosen the right firm to guide our financial affairs as we seek that £6M of turnover," said Mr Beresford.

Pictured are Bright Partner, Mike Senior, with Richard Veenstra, Vacanceselect Finance Manage, Netherlands.

Bright sponsor charity duck race

Bright Partnership entered a sponsored duck in the Spinningfields charity duck race in April. Elaine Cunniffe said, "We always try to support local events and the Spinningfields duck race has become a popular annual charity event. The day was even more enjoyable because of the sunny Spring weather, attracting thousands of spectators to the newest retail and leisure area of Manchester." Over a 150 corporate ducks were sponsored by North West businesses, along with thousands of 'bath' sized ducks sponsored by the public. Racing - slowly - along the Irwell river in Spinningfields, the Bright Partnership duck led the race for a short time before falling back with exhaustion.

Our duck did, however, win the accolade of 'Campest Duck,' a little unfair, we thought, although many ducks chose macho guises from Darth Vadar to Alan Sugar. The Bright Partnership 'Ducky Bank' is now safely back at the Warrington offices of Bright, enjoying his retirement. Bright Partnership were pleased to help in raising thousands of pounds for charity.

A family-run specialist company near Wigan is on course to turn over more than £2M in just its second year of trading, much of it from exporting to 17 countries across the world.

“We know everything about rubber, but have little financial experience, and because we knew that a large percentage of our business would
be in export, we needed to work with a firm of accountants who understood and even anticipated our needs and I would recommend getting this in place right from the start.”

“We talked to the Bright Partnership in Warrington and I have nothing but praise for them and the way they support us at all times. Their experience and professionalism have been exceptional and the way they have helped manage our cash-flow with growing so quickly has been invaluable.”

Seven members of the Bright team - four from Bright Partnership and three from Bright Financial Services – took part in a 5k Santa dash on December 12th. Elaine Cunniffe, Jessica Lamb, Stephen Ford, Anna Roberts. Ian Mason and Neil Crook all donned bulky Santa costumes for the Dash, along with around 400 other competitors. With family and friends the Bright team totalled fourteen.

Elaine said, "We wanted to do the dash for some pre-Christmas fun - and exercise - but mainly to support the charity Brainwave, whose North West base is in Birchwood. Since 1982 Brainwave has been providing individual home based therapy and exercise programmes for families, to enable children with a range of conditions – including Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome and Autism – to reach their full potential. In total we raised over £400 for the charity!"
